Living A Balanced Life

We often face personal crises in matters of health, relationships and finances. Without the right coping strategies, our life can be stressful and unmanageable. We may even suffer silently for many years with the veil of denial snugly in place. Or we may search out anyone or anything to stop the pain. This change process can be disruptive, even catastrophic, leaving a legacy of depression and confusion.

One of the worst problems we face unknowingly is our inability to relax deeply. Inner tension disrupts every part of us—physically, mentally and emotionally. We may become susceptible to work-aholism, overindulgence and over preoccupation with all things material. We lack the energy and self-discipline to take charge of our true self and set our own course. Without a teacher, the road to balance and inner harmony can be long and arduous as depicted in the opening cave painting.

However, after we bottom out and find our way, we can gain personal strength, clarity and focus. It is amazing how resilient we become when forced out of our comfort zone. The good news is that crises allow us to re-examine our old ways and to get unstuck. We learn how to “course-correct” to a healthier way of living.

To move forward to self-awareness and personal power, we recommend the following basics:

Daily exercise to motivate us and keep our body healthy.

Written goals in December to give us direction and guidance for the following year.

Connections with positive supportive people to anchor us in our times of challenge.

Counselling and therapy to help us heal from past experiences.

Daily meditation and alone time to keep us balanced and calm.
